ALL ABOUT ME!

My name is Regina McCurty. I have been involved within the field of education for over 19 years. Education is very important to me. I believe that all children have the capacity to learn. It is up to us as educators to make learning challenging and fun.

Below are pictures of my family. My family is very dear to my heart. I am an advocate for childhood cancer awareness due to losing my nephew to this dreadful disease a little over a year ago.

Welcome to our classroom!

Our 6^th grade classroom consists of a group of 20 awesome students. Within our classroom we have eleven girls and nine boys from diverse backgrounds.

We are about to study a unit on Slavery within the States. Slavery changed the course of America. Due to slavery, we have went through many changes as Americans. Below are the learning goal and objectives that we will be examining within this lesson.

Learning Goal:

To trace the movements of the slave trade within the United States and the impact that slavery had on America

Learning Objective:

Students will become familiar with the slave trade and events surrounding slavery within the United States.
Students will learn how slaves were imported into the country and sold.
Students will learn how slaves wanted their freedom and were willing to escape to achieve it.
